Review: Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream and Radiance Lotion

I'd like to thank modern medicine and genetics for my skin.

Modern medicine, because after going on birth control, my skin has remained mostly flawless with only a spot every couple of months. Thanks to that, I only ever use light coverage foundation because there's not much that needs to be covered up.

Genetics, because my mother is like eternal youth personified, and she has (fortunately/unfortunately) passed that onto me. She's in her 50s, but probably looks like she's in her late 30s. And I am perpetually being asked if I need a travel escort at airports. Restaurants have stopped offering me kids' menus a few years ago.

My mom and I are big fans of Fresh. There's just something about their products that is so simple and universal.

I love the packaging for these - super clean and simple. The lotion comes in a clear pump bottle and you can see the product being pushed up as you use it. The face cream is in a luxurious frosted glass tub. I'm not a fan of sticking my fingers into products, so I use a plastic scoop instead.

I use the Lotus Youth Preserve Radiance Lotion ($33) after toner and face oil. My skin is usually well hydrated by then. It's a wonderful, smooth consistency that doesn't leave sticky residue like some face lotions do. I like moisturizers on the watery side, and a little goes a long way for me.  I usually only need about half a pump for my whole face, or a full pump on days when my skin is very dry. I have combination skin and I'm oily between my brows and dry everywhere else. This moisturizer spreads so well across my skin and it leaves me feeling refreshed.

I think the only downside to this is the cost. At $33 for 1 fl oz, it's a pricey moisturizer. For someone who has drier skin, they'd need more than half a pump, and could easily find a moisturizer at a fraction of the cost (Simple is a great brand and very affordable). It's a great moisturizer, but I'm not ride or die about it.

I use the thicker Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream ($17) on areas of my face that needs a more hydrating barrier. I apply this around my nose where I am most dry. This is a thicker consistency, but it doesn't leave me feeling greasy. Some face creams apply and don't sink into my skin, but rather sit on top of it and leave my face feeling sticky. My skin drinks this stuff up, but like the lotion, a little goes a long way. I've had the 0.5 oz for five months and I'm only just now finishing it up.

I don't know what super 7 complex is, and I'm not in dire need of youth preserve, but it never hurts to start early. I'd recommend the lotion for those who only need light moisturizing and the face cream for those who need more hydration. Using both isn't necessary, but I like having options depending on what kind of day my skin is having.

Lotion: 4/5
Face Cream: 5/5
