Swatch and Review: Sephora Favorites Give Me Some Lip

My first S + R would of course be the longest.

As if I didn't already have lipsticks that I don't use, I recently purchased Sephora's lip set Give Me Some Lip because I have absolutely no self control. The set includes deluxe sizes of Marc Jacobs' Le Marc Lip Crème in Je T'aime, Kat Von D's Everlasting Liquid Lip in Lolita, MUFE Artist Plexi Gloss 202, Sephora Collection Rouge Infusion the Neutrals in 19-Peony, Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment in Rosé, and a full size of Tarte's Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Coral Blossom.

The set comes in a cute box. For some reason, when I ordered this online it came without Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment, so I went in-store and Sephora kindly gave me a replacement. Gotta love Sephora's customer services.

First for Swatch + Review: Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Crème in Je T'aime

Je T'aime is described as a "rum raspberry" color, which is pretty accurate. On my lips, the pink tones come out a lot more and becomes much more vibrant.

I love the shape of the lipstick. The tip is rounded which makes it easier for me to shape my unusually sharp cupid's bow into a softer curve. For those who want more precision - especially for the lip corners - this might be a challenge, but not too bad. The case is plastic and the lid snaps shut. There's no need to push the silver button, so it's just there for decorative purposes. Though I am concerned that it might get caught and snap off someday, but whatever.

The color is wonderfully pigmented and it glides so smoothly. The formula is creamy and not drying at all for a matte color.

Je T'aime in natural lighting.

Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Coral Blossom

This is the only full sized product in this set, and it's simply okay. Described as a "salmon pink," the name is a bit misleading. Far from a true coral, this lipstick is very pink on my lips.

I'm a sucker for good packaging. The lipstick is package is made from cardboard, and each color comes in different designs. Way too cute not to have. However, I find that it rattles a bit when I shake it, unlike other plastic packaging. Not a big deal, but I do wonder how sturdy it is.

For me, the color is more pink than coral, which I'll compare with another coral lipstick that I have in the swatches below.

Light pink. The lipstick is super creamy and melts on your lips. It also smells heavenly! Like peppermint. Once put on the lips, it feels tingly, but in a nice way.

Tarte vs my go-to coral color Korres Mango Butter Lipstick in 45 Coral (you might of heard about the rave of lip butters from Korres' lip butter in a pot). I found it by coincidence when Sephora was advertising it at check out years ago. Super vibrant on the stick, but sheer when applied. I use Korres as a cream blush as well.

Less pink, more coral. I'm not sure if this lipstick is still continued or not, since I can't seem to find it on the Korres website. Anyway, back to the review.

Kat Von D's Everlasting Liquid Lip in Lolita

This is a cult favorite and continuously out of stock in stores and online, and I'm glad I was able to try out a deluxe version in this set.

It comes in a typical lipgloss style tube with a doe foot applicator. Nothing too fancy.

A little goes a long way for this lipstick. It glides on like - you guessed it - liquid. There's enough give to it that you can purse your lips to move the color around, but the lipstick dries quite fast and there's no transfer. The color is described as a "chestnut rose," which is accurate. Brown and pink tones for a nice mauve color.

Since it dries quick, it settles in lines quite easily, as you can see from my lips. I haven't had issues with it straying beyond my lip corners, though for those with fine lines there, it might need some lipliner.

MUFE Artist Plexi Gloss 202

I hate lipgloss. I absolutely hate it, and I haven't worn any since middle school. MUFE's Artist Plexi Gloss is everything that I hate in a lipgloss without any compensation in color. Boo.

I absolutely love MUFE, but this is just a bust. There's probably more lid than product, and the applicator is the weirdest thing I've ever used. It's flimsy and there's a cut in the middle which serves no purpose for me. The gloss also smells weird, but there's no particular taste to it.

Apparently the founder of MUFE was inspired by plexiglass, and thus this was born. The formula is super thick and sticky, and I guess you can describe it as a melted plexiglass feeling. Maybe that's what they were going for? Anyway, the color is a sheer pink that doesn't really wow me at all.

Goes on sheer. I know it looks red, but that's because of all the lipstick stains I have going on from the previous swatches. It's a sheer baby pink color ("Sweet pink" for Sephora's description). Overall, if lip glosses are your thing, maybe this will be good for you. For me, it's just a bust.

Sephora Collection Rouge Infusion Lip Stain the Neutrals in 19-Peony

Another gloss, sort of. The doe foot applicator is red, which kind of makes it impossible to see the color without a swatch. Sephora describes it as a no-texture lip stain, though I beg to differ. It glides on like liquid, though it's not as watery as Kat Von D's Everlasting Liquid Lipstick. The texture starts off pretty nice, but becomes somewhat tacky when pressing the lips together.

The color was a lot more intense than I expected for something called "Peony," but I like it.

I like that it eventually stains with a slight slight shine. It reminds me a lot of Revlon's Just Bitten Lips Stain + Balm, but not in pen form.

Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment in Rosé

This is probably one of the most raved about products in the world of lippies. Super smooth, hydrating, and beautifully pigmented. I've never actually purchased a full sized one because, hello, $22.50 for glorified chapstick is kind of much. Despite that, I still really love the deluxe sized freebies that I do have (last I checked, the promo code ROSEFB gets you a free deluxe size of Rosé).

The color is a sheer rose, which takes a bit of effort to get even coverage, as you can see from my swatch. I usually use the clear one for ease of coverage without patchy spots. The formula lasts for-freaking-ever. No joke, it lasted through me eating noodle soup. When you first get it, it might be wise to pop it in the fridge for a while. The formula is really soft, and I screwed up my new stick when swatching the color. Press lightly.

Nice shine without the tacky feeling of gloss and with awesome hydration. I still stick to my Nivea chapstick out of habit, but this is definitely a splurge that lasts a long time.

5/5

Welp, there you go. This set is a really great value ($25) for the amount of product you get. Really well-known brands for a fraction of the price. Despite the couple of busts, I'm still pretty pleased with this set. There's great variety of colors, textures, and formulas, and I'm sure it will be a perfect gift for lipstick lovers.
